Oratory, Statues, Multimedia Studio blessed

The cause for Father McGivney has been launched! In one morning there were   four events that will help spread awareness and devotion to the founder throughout the Philippines, and – according to Supreme Knight Carl Anderson – possibly turn up a miracle through the founder’s intercession.

Three pilgrim statues of Father McGivney were blessed at the Opening Mass of the Knights of Columbus National Convention on April 27, by Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines. These 4-foot, gold-colored statues will be sent for parish prayer services throughout Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao over the course of the next 12 months. Also blessed by Archbishop Palma were three sites within walking distance of one another in Manila’s historic Intramuros: a multimedia studio at the CBCP headquarters; a monumental cupola for a statue of Father McGivney outside the KCFAPI headquarters, the Knights’ insurance program in the Philippines; and an oratory inside the headquarters. At each location, Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu, CBCP president, offered prayers and a blessing.

The purpose of these newly blessed sites and the pilgrim statues is to encourage all Filipinos – not just Knights of Columbus – to pray to Father McGivney in their daily needs and report any favors received to the new Father McGivney Office located at the CBCP headquarters. (Brian Caulfield)
