Second Venerable Fr. McGivney statue inside a Church compound unveiled in Iloilo

Auxiliary Bishop of Jaro Most Rev Gerardo Alminaza blessed the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney statue constructed within the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral on April 14.

The second statue of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney within a church compound was unveiled and blessed last April 24, 2013 in Jaro, Iloilo City.

The unveiling of the Fr. McGivney statue was pearheaded by Visayas State Community Grand Knight Gil Sorongon of the Ave Maria Council of Jaro, Iloilo, in coordination with Past Membership Director Nicanor Sarmiento. It is now open for public viewing and may be seen in front the Chamber Office of Ave Maria Council located inside the compound of Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, also known as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles.

Fr. McGivney is the founder of the Knights of Columbus, whose cause for canonization is being investigated by the Vatican.

At present, there are two Fr. McGivney statues within a Church compound. The first one was established last June 2012 at Sta. Teresita Parish Church in Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City. (Yen Ocampo)
