Fr. McGivney image in Visayas Jurisdiction begins making rounds


The Image of Fr. Michael J. McGivney was welcomed by Knights of Columbus Visayas Jurisdiction members at St. Joseph Parish, Pototan, Iloilo City as it was transferred from Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, Jaro, Iloilo City a week after the opening of the pilgrimage.

Led by Provincial Deputy in Iloilo Province Central Vicente Buendia, together with K of C Brother Knights and lay parishioners, the 4-foot tall and gold-colored statue of Fr. McGivney was received last Sunday, September 23, 2012.

The prayer vigil for the Cause for the Canonization of Fr. McGivney was facilitated by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Tom Delican.

Accoding to Noeni Nepumuceno, Visayas State Program Director, the image will be staying in Pototan for a week then it will be transferred to another parish.

The Pilgrimage of the Image of Fr. McGivney is being conducted in the Philippines to promote the Cause for the Canonization of the K of C founder, who was declared “Venerable” by Pope Benedict XVI last March 2008.

Last September 16, 2012, the Pilgrimage in Visayas Jurisdiction began with a Mass Jaro Metropolitan Church with thousands of churchgoers in attendance. (Ronalyn Regino)
