Image of Fr. McGivney, welcomed at the pilgrimage’s second stop

After a week of stay at St. Joseph Parish, Pototan, Iloilo City, the Image of Fr. McGivney is now transferred to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Culasi, Ajuy, Iloilo City last September 30, 2012. Spearheaded by Visayas Deputy Rodrigo Sorongon with State Treasurer Jun Jo and Provincial Deputy Vic Buendia, together with K of C members and the Image, they caravanned from Pototan up to the town of Banate where they were met by Brother Knights of Northern Iloilo. The Image of Fr. Michael J. McGivney was welcomed by Knights of Columbus Visayas Jurisdiction members at St. Joseph Parish, Pototan, Iloilo City as it was transferred from Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, Jaro, Iloilo City a week after the opening of the pilgrimage. Led by Provincial Deputy in Iloilo Province Central Vicente Buendia, together with K of C Brother Knights and lay parishioners, the 4-foot tall and gold-colored statue of Fr. Fr. McGivney Pilgrimage kicks off in Visayas

The pilgrimage of Venerable Michael J. McGivney’s statue in Visayas kicked off Sept. 16 with thousands of people in attendance. Fr. McGivney is the founder of the K of C and whose cause for canonization is strongly being promoted in the Philippines. Earlier this year, the US-based K of C Supreme Office sent four 4-foot tall and gold-colored statues of Fr. McGivney to the Philippines. The 4-feet statue of the “Venerable Servant of God” can be found at the Sta. Teresita Parish Church in Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City. McGivney’s image will reach as many council as it can for 3 years, according to Luzon State Deputy Arsenio Yap last Friday, May 4 during the turn-over of the image to Council 1000 in Intramuros. “We can only allocate few days of stay of the image of Fr. More than a hundred members of the Knights of Columbus from Luzon Jurisdiction and the Manila Council started the pilgrimage of the image of KC founder Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney on May 4 from the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association Inc. (KCFAPI) building to Council 1000 in Intramuros.
